Hydra-MTS is a modular system. This system is extremely customizable and expandable and it can be a little confusing to determine what you need the first time so we offer free custom design services.
Keep in mind, you didn't set up your aquariums all at once, the same is true with HYDRA-MTS. Once you have the base system you can expand tank by tank when its best for you, like birthdays.
Hydra-MTS requires a computer, windows or mac, to perform the one time system set up. You cannot use this system without installing the configuration application on your computer. Once set up is complete you no longer need the computer and can use your phone to do everything else.
This is where the software resides, you just need one no matter how many tanks you have. You will probably want the Wifi adapter. It should be centrally located where you have the greatest concentration of tanks. It has 6 sensor ports and 2 USB ports. All Hydra-MTS systems come with 6 months cloud services included.
We suggest you start with a Starter Kit, it's a tremendous value compared to buying each component separately.
A sensor assembly consists of a probe, an adapter and a sensor cable. The probe goes in the tank and the sensor wire is plugged into the Hydra-MTS Controller or an expansion hub. Pictured is an example of a PH assembly. The individual parts, if needed, are available under "Parts" on the Square site.
A failed heater can kill your entire tank. To sense temperature you need one thermocouple assembly per tank. If you have 2 or more close together (all within 6 feet) you can use a 4X adapter to save cost and sensor ports.
If you have a planted tank you can monitor the PH level and control your CO2 system. You need one PH assembly per tank. We don't sell CO2 systems, however any 120V plug in system can be controlled.
Oxidation-reduction potential, or ORP, measures water's ability to break down waste products like contaminants and decaying matter from plants and animals. When the ORP value is high in reef tanks, it means there is a lot of oxygen in the water.
These are off the shelf devices by Kasa. You can buy them on Amazon or from us. They are available in single outlet, 3 and 6 outlet plug strip versions. Some of them have energy monitoring (EM) so be sure to check the description.
The units that have been tested as of 2/23 are:
HS300(US) - EM - 6 outlet plug strip
EP10(US) - No EM - single outlet
KP125(US) - EM - single outlet
EP25P4 (US)-EM single outlet 4 pack
These are off the shelf devices. The leak alarm has a stand alone battery powered alarm that when connected to the system allows you to sense leaks, shut off pumps and send remote alarms. The audible alarm is plugged into the designated alarm outlet to give you local indication of a problem. You could also plug in any 120V device (a light perhaps) to tell you when there is problem.
HYDRA-MTS was designed for those in the hobby who have lots of tanks. You need expansion capability. These come in several versions with either USB or WIFI. Since each tank setup is unique, each HYDRA-MTS system is also unique. (feel free to ask for help)
USB Hubs are the best bet for tanks you can run a cable to. The limit is about 14 feet. You can use our powered USB Hubs to create an entire network of sensors.
The main HYDRA controller has 2 USB outlets. For more USB ports use the 7 port powered USB hub.
Wifi Hubs are the solution for those tanks where you just cant run a cable. Perhaps an isolated show tank in your living room.
All systems fully expandable with additional components
We are seeking a limited number of beta testers to give us their thoughts on our new system
